Oracle VirtualBox, formerly Sun VirtualBox, Sun xVM VirtualBox and innotek VirtualBox) is a virtualization software package for x86 and AMD64/Intel64-based computers from Oracle Corporation. Innotek GmbH first developed the product, Sun Microsystems purchased it in 2008, Oracle has continued development since 2010.

Examples

A lot of software images are available. The website Get Into PC [1] contains the iso-files. See the examples below:

A problem with Virtualization is how to transfer files from the hosting computer to the hosted OS. VirtualBox has an iso-file in the installed Applications folder containing the VBozGuestAdditions.iso. This file has to be incorporated in the hosted OS to enable that kind of features.

DOS 6.22

A simple implementation of Virtual Software (and also a very instructive way to understand virtualization) is the creation of an DOS 6.22 virtual machine. [2] [3]

Windows XP

Another example of Virtual Software is Windows. Windows on the Max needs an iso-image for Windows XP -SP3 [4].
