The most popular bet that you will come across when betting on sports matches is the 1x2 bet. This is the most played by bettors around the world. One of the big reasons for this is the simplicity of the prediction. You don't have to dig deep into the meaning of the bet, but you can simply bet your money on the outcome of a match.

De meest populaire weddenschap die je tegenkomt als je op sportwedstrijden gaat gokken is de 1x2-weddenschap. Deze wordt over de hele wereld het meest gespeeld door wedders. Een van de grote redenen hiervoor is de eenvoud van de voorspelling. Je hoeft niet diep te graven in de betekenis van de weddenschap, maar je kunt simpelweg je geld inzetten op de uitkomst van een wedstrijd.

Each Way

The each way bet is a single selection wager consisting of 2 equal parts: a win bet and a place bet. (mostly used in horse races). The total stake is split across the two bets, and the outcome of a single event determines the return. The "to win" bet is settled as a straightforward single bet with 50% of the original stake e.g. £1 of a £2 bet.

The remaining 50% is staked on the "to place" portion of the bet. This portion is successful when the selection finishes in the top X number of places where X varies depending on the sport, the number of competitors/runners and any bookmaker specific promotions that may be available.

If there are fewer than five horses in a race then bookmakers are unlikely to offer each-way odds. The number of places which count for an each-way place bet to pay out varies according to bookmaker, market, type of race and the number of runners. Typically though the breakdown will look like this:

  • Five to seven runners (non-handicap): 1/4 (one quarter) win odds on first and second places
  • Eight or more runners (non-handicap): 1/5 (one fifth) win odds on first, second and third places
  • Five to seven runners (handicap): 1/4 win odds on first and second places
  • Eight to 11 runners (handicap): 1/5 win odds on first, second and third places
  • 12 to 15 runners (handicap): 1/4 win odds on first, second and third places
  • 16 or more runners (handicap): 1/4 win odds on first, second, third and fourth places

De Each-way-weddenschap is een enkele selectie-inzet die uit 2 gelijke delen bestaat: een win-weddenschap en een place-weddenschap (plaats). (meest gebruikt in paardensport). De totale inzet wordt verdeeld over de twee weddenschappen en de uitkomst van een enkele gebeurtenis bepaalt het rendement. De "te winnen"-weddenschap wordt afgehandeld als een enkelvoudige weddenschap met 50% van de oorspronkelijke inzet e.G. £ 1 van een £ 2 weddenschap.

De resterende 50% wordt ingezet op het "te plaatsen" gedeelte van de weddenschap. Dit deel is succesvol wanneer de selectie eindigt in het hoogste X aantal plaatsen waar X varieert afhankelijk van de sport, het aantal deelnemers/lopers en eventuele bookmaker-specifieke promoties die mogelijk beschikbaar zijn.

Als er minder dan vijf paarden in een race zijn, is het onwaarschijnlijk dat bookmakers een odds aanbieden. Het aantal plaatsen dat meetelt voor de uitbetaling van een each-way place-weddenschap varieert per bookmaker, markt, type race en het aantal lopers. Meestal ziet de verdeling er echter als volgt uit:

  • Vijf tot zeven lopers (niet-handicap): 1/4 (een kwart) win kansen op de eerste en tweede plaats
  • Acht of meer lopers (niet-handicap): 1/5 (een vijfde) win kansen op de eerste, tweede en derde plaats
  • Vijf tot zeven lopers (handicap): 1/4 winkansen op de eerste en tweede plaats
  • Acht tot 11 lopers (handicap): 1/5 winkansen op de eerste, tweede en derde plaats
  • 12 tot 15 lopers (handicap): 1/4 winstkansen op eerste, tweede en derde plaats
  • 16 of meer lopers (handicap): 1/4 winstkansen op eerste, tweede, derde en vierde plaats

Double

The double is a bet where two selections are made, and if the first wins, everything that would have been returned is then used as a stake for a second. This style of bet is popular because it creates the potential for larger returns but at the expense of increased risk as all it takes is one losing selection for the bet to return nothing. Similar to the treble and accumulator the only difference is a lower number of selections. Each way and to-place only options are also available at some bookmakers.

Nota Bene: There is also a 1x2 bet where you bet on 2 possible outcomes (i.e. win and draw). This covers 66% of the possible outcome. Is also called double change.

De dubbel is een weddenschap waarbij twee selecties worden gemaakt, en als de eerste wint, wordt alles wat zou zijn teruggegeven een seconde lang als inzet gebruikt. Deze manier van wedden is populair omdat het de mogelijkheid creëert voor grotere rendementen, maar ten koste van een verhoogd risico, aangezien er slechts één verliezende selectie nodig is om de weddenschap niets terug te geven. Net als bij de hoge tonen en accumulator is het enige verschil een lager aantal selecties. Elke manier en alleen naar-plaats opties zijn ook beschikbaar bij sommige bookmakers.

Nota Bene: Er bestaat ook een weddenschap op 1x2 waarbij je op 2 mogelijke uitkomsten (i.e. winst en gelijkspel). Daarmee dek je 66% van de mogelijke uitkomst. Is ook wel dubbele kans genoemd.

Treble

The treble is a bet where three selections are made, and the returns from the first are rolled over to the second, then the returns from the second rolled over to the third. More significant returns can be achieved using this bet at the expense of increased risk, as all it takes is one losing selection for the bet to return nothing. Similar to the accumulator and double, only varying in their number of selections, a double having 2 and an accumulator having 4 or more.

De treble is een weddenschap waarbij drie selecties worden gemaakt en de opbrengsten van de eerste worden doorgerold naar de tweede, waarna de opbrengsten van de tweede worden doorgerold naar de derde. Er kunnen grotere rendementen worden behaald met deze weddenschap ten koste van een verhoogd risico, aangezien er slechts één verliezende selectie nodig is om de weddenschap niets terug te geven. Vergelijkbaar met de accumulator en dubbel, alleen variërend in hun aantal selecties, een dubbele met 2 en een accu met 4 of meer.

Handicap

Sometimes it's too easy to simply say that one of the two teams is going to win. One of the other bet types you can use is the Handicap. Here you can influence the starting position of a match. At least, virtually you can award one or more goals to one of the teams before a duel has started. This can also have a nice influence on the odds.

If you are going to place a handicap bet, you are virtually giving a team a goal (or more) as a gift. You see this in the form of 'Team A +1'. This means that the match for your prediction will start with 1-0 instead of 0-0. If the match on the field is 1-1, then it is added with your extra goal to become 2-1, so your bet on Team A was correct. The other way around is also possible: 'Team A -1'. This puts that team one goal behind, so it must win by at least two goals.

As you can see above, there are actually two variants. You can give a team a virtual advantage, but you can also choose to make it more difficult. As a result, the Handicap can be used in two ways and can be very valuable for you as a bettor.

Soms is het te makkelijk om simpelweg te zeggen dat een van de twee teams gaat winnen. Een van de andere wedtypes die je dan kunt gebruiken, is de Handicap. Ook kan dit een mooie invloed op de quoteringen hebben.

Ga je een handicap weddenschap plaatsen, dan geef je een team dus virtueel een doelpunt (of meerdere) cadeau. Dit zie je in de vorm van ‘Team A +1’. Dit betekent dat de wedstrijd voor jouw voorspelling met 1-0 begint in plaats van 0-0. Wordt de wedstrijd op het veld 1-1, dan is het opgeteld met jouw extra doelpunt 2-1 geworden, waarmee je inzet op Team A dus klopte. Andersom kan ook: ‘Team A -1’. Hiermee zet je dat team een doelpunt achter, waardoor het met minimaal twee goals moet winnen.

Zoals je hierboven kunt zien, zijn er eigenlijk twee varianten. Je kunt een team een virtueel voordeel geven maar je kunt er ook voor kiezen het juist lastiger te maken. Hierdoor is de Handicap op twee manieren te gebruiken en kan deze erg waardevol zijn voor jou als wedder.


Accumulator

An accumulator bet is one bet made up of multiple selections that are combined in one bet. All of the selections need to come in for the bet to win.

The accumulator pays much higher odds than if you were to place the selections as separate singles because each of the multiple single bets included in your acca must be successful to guarantee a return.

Because the odds are bundled together to create greater value for the bettor if one of your selections loses then your accumulator bet loses in its entirety, hence there is an increased risk.

Most sports have accumulators available, including football, horse racing and tennis, but bookmakers may stop you from combining multiple sports into an accumulator.

Multiple selections from the same game would not be an accumulator, but rather a same game multiple, which is a different type of bet.

Een accumulator-weddenschap is een weddenschap die bestaat uit meerdere selecties die in één weddenschap worden gecombineerd. Alle selecties moeten binnenkomen om de weddenschap te winnen.

De accumulator betaalt veel hogere kansen dan wanneer u de selecties als afzonderlijke enkelvoudige weddenschappen zou plaatsen, omdat elk van de meerdere enkelvoudige weddenschappen in uw acca succesvol moet zijn om een rendement te garanderen.

Yankee

In a Yankee at least two of the selections must be successful to guarantee a return. The trebles and four-fold increase your winnings should more than two selections come in, and this can mean a Yankee produces some very big wins.

To put together a Yankee system, you need four different predictions. This could be, for example, choosing the winner of a football match in four separate duels. These four predictions, also called selections, form the basis on which we will fill in the system.

A Yankee means that all possible combinations of two, three and four selections are made from the four predictions. That is six combinations of two (Doubles), four combinations of three (Trebles) and one combination of all four (quadruple) the predictions.

In total you end up with eleven combinations. To make it even easier to visualize, we can also assign letters to the predictions, and then write out the combinations made. For example, if we call the four predictions A, B, C and D, then you make all of the following combinations in a Yankee:

Bij een Yankee moeten minimaal twee van de selecties succesvol zijn om een rendement te garanderen. De drievoudige en viervoudige verhoging van uw winst als er meer dan twee selecties binnenkomen, en dit kan betekenen dat een Yankee een aantal zeer grote overwinningen oplevert.

Om een Yankee systeem te kunnen samenstellen, heb je vier verschillende voorspellingen nodig. Dat kan bijvoorbeeld zijn het kiezen van de winnaar van een voetbalwedstrijd in vier aparte duels. Deze vier voorspellingen, ook wel selecties genoemd, vormen de basis waarmee we het systeem gaan invullen.

Een Yankee houdt in dat van de vier voorspellingen alle mogelijke combinaties van twee, drie en vier selecties gemaakt worden. Dat zijn zes combinaties van twee (Doubles), vier combinaties van drie (Trebles) en één combinatie van alle vier (viervoudig) de voorspellingen.

In totaal kom je zo op elf combinaties uit. Om het nog wat makkelijker te visualiseren, kunnen we ook letters toekennen aan de voorspellingen, en vervolgens de gemaakte combinaties uitschrijven. Als we de vier voorspellingen bijvoorbeeld A, B, C en D noemen, dan maak je daar in een Yankee alle onderstaande combinaties mee:

6 doubles AB, AC, AD, BC, BD, CD
4 trebles ABC, ABD, ACD, BCD
1 quadruple ABCD

For the sake of clarity, the combination AC means, for example, that prediction A and C come true. You win that combination if it also comes out. So to win ACD, you need to get an extra prediction right, and for the quadruple everything.

So you can see from this: with a Yankee system bet you can win part of your combinations and part not, depending on which results are correct. In the Yankee bet, at least two selections must be correct in order to get a refund, because the Doubles are the smallest possible combination.

Voor de duidelijkheid: de combinatie AC betekent bijvoorbeeld dat voorspelling A en C uitkomen. Je wint die combinatie als die ook uitkomt. Om ACD te kunnen winnen, moet je dus nog een extra voorspelling goed hebben, en voor de viervoudige alles.

Hieraan zie je dus al: met een Yankee systeemweddenschap kun je – afhankelijk van welke uitslagen kloppen – een deel van je combinaties winnen en een deel niet. Bij de Yankee bet moeten er minimaal twee selecties juist zijn om geld terug te kunnen krijgen, omdat de Doubles de kleinste mogelijke combinatie vormen.
