Apple Homepod

Introduction

Apple's HomePod Mini's are great speakers if you are on the Apple Ecosystem.
In the Apple Bookstore you can download the HomePod Manual.
Unfortunately not all is descripted in the manual.

Factory reset

Reset an HomePod.

I received a HomePod, which apparently has been used on another WiFi connection.
My problem was, that the HomePod did not want to connect and keep telling it has a WiFi connectivity problem.
So a looked for the factory reset procedure:

1. Unplug your HomePod for at least 10 seconds.
2. Plug your HomePod back in.
3. Wait 5 seconds and press and old the middle button on top of your HomePod.
   The light on top of your device will turn red at this point.
4. Continue pressing the middle button until you hear 3 beeps.
5. Finally let go when Siri tells you that the device is about to reset.
6. The reset will take approx 1 minute, after the reset your hear a chime.

Multi-Room

If you have more than one HomePod, you have 2 options to use them:

• As Stereo-Pair
• In a Multi-Room environment.

This Multi-Room usage description is not very well documented.

1. Just connect your second to your WiFi network and iPhone/iPad as you did with the first with exception that you give it another Room-Name.
2. To play to both your simple click on the AirPlay icon and click on both Room-Names for playing in both rooms.

Power Bank

Can the HomePod Mini be powered by a powerbank? Yes, but you need an USB C with at least 20W connection.
The HomePod mini use:

• 0.27 watts on standby,
• 0.81 watts at 30% volume,
• 1.17 watts at 50% volume,
• 2.25 watts at 70% volume,
• 4.68 watts at 85% volume, and
• 9.19 watts at 100% volume.
